Childrens’ Workshop
At times in our lives, we may feel that we have lost our way, that we have lost our purity that our innocence has been covered over. But then, we look at a child – and we remember. We can be many, many things in the span of our lives, but one thing remains the same for all of us: we were all once a child. And, as a child, we were all somewhat closer to our true Self.
Simply put: the innocence of children dissolves our ego.
Here are some sessions:
1) 0-2 years meditation
SESSION 1
**How can a mother transfer to her newborn baby the love of the Mother Kundalini?
0-2 years old is the transition time between the state of the womb to the state of the world. The baby is following the rhythm and natural characteristics of his mother, who is the most important person during their first two years. She is the one who is putting him on the path to a well–grounded foundation.
The baby’s character, personality and perceptiveness are developed during the first 2 years of age. Therefore this is an ideal time to support their growth and create a bond of security between the maternal power of the Kundalini and the world that the baby is growing up in.
**Raising Baby’s Kundalini
If your little one cannot sit by himself, lay him down on his back and raise his Kundalini over him. Otherwise, sit behind him as in the picture below and raise his Kundalini from behind. You can sing the following song to make it more fun for baby.
Uppy Uppy Mother Kundalini
Uppy, uppy, uppy Mother Kundalini, one.
Uppy, uppy, uppy Mother Kundalini, one, two.
Uppy, uppy, uppy Mother Kundalini, one, two, three
(The Kundalini is also referred to as a Mother energy because she takes care of us and give us joy and peacefulness).

**Giving Protection to baby
The second step is to give a baby a layer of vibrations that will provide him protection. This protection is known as “bandhan”. Imagine drawing a rainbow with your right hand from the baby’s left hip, over the top of his head and down to his right hip and back again. Back and forth is considered one time. Just as there are seven colours in the rainbow and seven chakras in the subtle system, you do this seven times to give baby a full bandhan. You can sing the names of each chakra if you like:
Mooladhara, Swadhistana, Nabhi &Void, Anahat, Vishuddhi, Agnya, Sahasrara.
SESSION 2
**Daily Massage
In this session you will learn how to massage baby’s chakras. It is very important to start baby’s day with a nice and gentle massage of his chakras. There are 7 chakras that are located in the spinal cord. Each of them has a special qualities that are activated when you massage them the proper way.
1) Baby should be lying on his tummy:
– Pour a few drops of baby oil over his back
2) Steps to massage each chakra:
Each of the chakras is located at different points along the spinal cord. See the diagram on the right to get an idea of their relative locations. When you are massaging a chakra, press on it gently on baby’s back with your right hand and rub in counter clockwise circles.
1. First chakra (Mooladhara or root) massage: repeat 4 times.
2. Second chakra (Swadhistana) massage: repeat 6 times.
3. Third chakra (Nabhi or stomach) massage: repeat 10 times
4. Fourth chakra (Anahat or heart) massage: repeat 12 times
5. Fifth chakra (Vishuddhi or throat) massage: repeat 16 times
6. Sixth chakra (Agnya) massage: Massage the right and left temples with counter clockwise circles to bring down the ego and super ego.
7. Seventh chakra (Sahasrara or crown) massage: Massage the fontanel bone area with liberal amounts of baby oil.
A daily habit of raising baby’s Kundalini, giving bandhan and massaging each chakra is a beautiful and enjoyable way to establish a bond between you and him. After this session you will notice your baby is more relaxed and tranquil. He will start to develop vibratory awareness as his Kundalini gets stronger. You may also notice improved blood circulation, less colic and gas and better sleep patterns. We recommend giving baby a chakra massage in the morning and again in the evening every day. The evening massage will help baby settle down for the night and have a restful sleep.
Here is a fun story you can tell baby while giving him a chakra massage:
When the Mooladhara chakra is being massaged, you are drawing a sky–rocket on planet Earth. This rocket will be launched towards the farthest planet in the Universe.
As you massage the Swadhistana chakra, the sky–rocket is being launched towards the planet Mercury. As for each successive chakra the rocket is visiting Jupiter (for the Nabhi), Venus (for the Anahat), Saturn (for the Vishuddhi), the Sun (for the Agnya) and finally Pluto (for the Sahasrara).
SESSION 3
Parents and infants build good habits
In this session we will show you an example of a daily spiritual routine using the magic of love.
**Morning meditation
Sit on the ground in a comfortable position. Raise your own Kundalini and give yourself bandhan. Then raise baby’s Kundalini and give him bandhan.
Meditate by keeping your attention on your Sahasrara chakra. If any thoughts come into your attention, just let them go. Your meditation may be short because small children are active and they can only to put attention on one thing for a few minutes. You can hold baby’s attention longer by singing some songs to him. Here are some songs you can sing:
**Songs
1) Wake up song
Wake up little boy.
Wake up little girl.
It’s time for meditation.
We hope you have slept very well through the night.
It’s morning meditation.
Our Mother is waiting – joyful and bright – to give everyone of us her morning light.
2) Mother Kundalini
Dear Mother Kundalini, Kundalini, please come up, please come up, please come up.
Mother Kundalini, Kundalini, please come up, and open up my Sahasrara.
**Experience the benefits of the bandhan
It is very auspicious that you protect your baby and yourself by raising your Kundalinis and giving yourselves bandhans before leaving your home. Doing this will strengthen your vibrations and will attract positive energy to yourself when you are outside your home.
**Enjoying time in nature
When you go for a walk try to expose baby to nature and be sure to explain the importance of Mother Earth for us.
**Sing short melodies and dance together
We hope you enjoyed learning about Sahaj meditation for babies.
2) 2-4 years meditation
SESSION 1
We are going to guide you through basic and simple meditation techniques that you can practice with your child. Very soon he/she will become content and will look forward to meditating each day. Let’s start with a five-minute meditation that you can do anytime of the day. However we advised to meditate twice a day in the morning and in the evening.
**Daily meditation steps for your child
First sit down comfortably with your child on the floor. We suggest you sit behind your child so it is easier to guide him.
Then raise your own Kundalini. Now follow this same procedure on your child to raise his Kundalini. While you do so, you can sing the Kundalini song to make it more fun:
** Bandhan
The next step is to give to your child a layer of vibrations that will provide him protection. This protection is known as “bandhan”. Imagine drawing a rainbow with your right hand from the child’s left hip, over the top of his head and down to his right hip and back again. Back and forth is considered one time. Just as there are seven colours in the rainbow and seven chakras in the subtle system, you do this seven times to give your child a full bandhan. You can sing the names of each chakra if you like: Mooladhara, Swadhistana, Nabhi &Void, Anahat, Vishuddhi, Agnya and Sahasrara or you can sing a colour of the rainbow for each bandhan: “orange rainbow”, “yellow rainbow”, “green rainbow”, “red rainbow”, “blue rainbow”, “white rainbow”, “all the rainbows”! (These colours are the actual colours of each chakra).
Now you are ready to start meditating. Please ask your child to close his eyes for a little bit.
Then say out-loud “Kundalini please let me feel your magic power”. This magic power refers to the energy and happiness your child can feel when you repeat the affirmation.
To strengthen your child’s Kundalini, put your right hand over your child’s sacrum bone area and then raise your hand up along his spine until you reach the top of his head. With this motion you are lifting the Kundalini energy to help it stand all the way up. Do this seven times.
You can sing this song as you lift your child’s Kundalini:
Dear Mother Kundalini, Kundalini, please come up, please come up, please come up.
Mother Kundalini, Kundalini, please come up, and open up my Sahasrara.
Once you have finished singing the song, please ask your child to be quiet for a bit and in this short time he will feel the manifestation of the Kundalini and experience the joy of it.
To finish off with the meditation please raise you and your child’s Kundalini and give yourselves a bandhan.
SESSION 2
**Learning the 3 channels of energy.
In this chapter you will learn about the channels of energy that are inside of us. Please read this link the three channels of energy to understand how the three channels work and how they can be balanced.
1. Moon Channel
The Moon Channel is blue and it rises along the left side of our body. It takes care of how we feel about ourselves and how much we love our mommy and daddy and our friends.
2. Sun Channel
The Sun Channel is yellow and it rises along the right side of our body. It takes care of our activity, for example when we move our hands and legs, play with pots and pans and run around!
3. Lotus Channel
The Lotus Channel is white and it rises along the center of our body. It keeps us in the present moment, so we can feel happy and be spontaneous no matter what we are doing, like playing, singing, reading and going down the slide at the playground.
SESSION 3
**Learn how to balance the channels of energy
Now it is time for us to learn how to balance the channels. But before take your time to read the following link balancing the channels , it will help you to have a better understanding of this session.
Balancing the Moon Channel:
Sometimes the channels go up and down, like a seesaw. You know the Moon Channel is a little down when you feel a bit of a warm breeze on your left hand. To help steady the Moon Channel you can put your left hand on our lap and your right hand on the ground and meditate like that for a few minutes.
Balancing the Sun Channel:
If you feel a little bit of a warm breeze on your right hand that means the Sun Channel is a bit down. To steady the Sun Channel meditate for a little while with your right hand on your lap and your left hand up and towards the air behind you. The air will pull all the not nice things out of your Sun Channel.
Balancing the Lotus Channel:
If you feel both hands are a little bit warm, then you can put both hands on the ground when you meditate. Mother Earth will help you by sucking out all the yucky things from your Lotus Channel.
Songs
Open up your hands and feel the cool…
Open up your hands and feel the cool vibrations.
Open up your hands and feel the love.
Our Mother’s love is there for all of us.
Open up your hands and feel the cool…
Open up your hands and feel the cool vibrations.
Open up your hands and feel the love.
Our Mother’s love is there for you
and you and you and you and you
And aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaall of us.
Divine inspiration
Reading a poem to your child at any time of the day will uplift his soul. Here is an inspiring poem written by Shri Mataji Nirmala Devi, the founder of Sahaja Yoga:
I want to be smaller,
Like a dust particle
Which moves with the wind
It goes everywhere,
can go,
Sit on the head of a king
Or can go
And fall at the feet of someone
And it can go
And sit everywhere
But I want to be a particle of dust
That is fragrant,
That is nourishing
That is enlightening.
We hope you enjoyed learning about Sahaj meditation for babies. In the next chapter you will learn about how to continue meditation with 4-6 years old.
3) 4-6 years meditation
SESSION 1
Awakening Your Child’s Kundalini
After you have experienced the Kundalini awakening, it will be fabulous to share this experience with your child and give him the chance to awaken his Kundalini too.
What is the Kundalini?
You can tell your child that everybody has a spiral energy called Kundalini that looks like a golden star inside of us and it is located in the lower part of his tummy. The Kundalini is very friendly and intelligent because it knows us very well and takes care of us like daddy and mommy do. Meditating with the Kundalini is the most beautiful experience that Mother Nature can give us.
Please follow these steps in order to awaken your child’s Kundalini:
Once you have explained what the Kundalini is, please invite your child to sit quietly near you on the ground (or in a comfortable chair if you prefer) and ask him to put is palms on his lap.
Ask your child to put his right hand on his heart and say this wish out-loud 3 times:
“I am the spirit”
Now ask him to put his right hand on the top on his head and move his right hand clock-wise seven times and say the following wish out-loud 7 times:
“Mother Kundalini, please wake up and take care of me.”
When you finish ask him to put back his right hand on his lap and be quiet for a bit so the Kundalini can start rising.
To finish ask your child to put his left hand on the top of his head keeping some distance from the head and ask him if can feel a cool breeze coming out from the top of his head. Then ask him to try with his right hand. Does he feel a cool breeze there too?
Now your child’s Kundalini has awakened. If you want to repeat the exercise you are welcome to, however it is not necessary once it has been done once. You need to meditate daily to nourish the Kundalini and keep it healthy.
**Daily Meditation
In this session you will learn how to meditate with your child. But first we invite you to read these two links first: What is Meditation? and Sahaja Yoga Meditation.
Here is how you can explain to your child what Sahaja meditation is about:
It is time to play with my spirit
Meditation is the time to be with your spirit and nourish the energy you have inside of you. For example, when we are hungry our tummy is telling us to eat food. So we eat and we feel happy, satisfied and have energy to play. We need to do the same thing for our spirit. We need to nourish it and feed it with a daily meditation.
How to do it?
In the morning when you are calm and quiet you can sit down with your mommy or daddy to enjoy the spirit inside you. For that let’s start with a 7-minute meditation. You can to the meditation any time of the day however we advise you do it soon after you wake up in the morning, and again before you go to bed at night.
Sit quietly on the floor or in a comfortable chair. Then put both palms on your laps.
Then raise your own Kundalini. Now follow this same procedure on your child to raise his Kundalini. While you do so, you can sing the Kundalini song to make it more fun:
The next step is to ask your child to do layer of vibrations that will provide him protection. This protection is known as “bandhan”. Imagine drawing a rainbow with his right hand from his left hip, over the top of his head and down to his right hip and back again. Back and forth is considered one time. Just as there are seven colours in the rainbow and seven chakras in the subtle system, your child should do this seven times to do a full bandhan.
You and your child can sing the names of each chakra if you like: Mooladhara, Swadhistana, Nabhi &Void, Anahat, Vishuddhi, Agnya and Sahasrara or you can sing a colour of the rainbow for each bandhan: “orange rainbow”, “yellow rainbow”, “green rainbow”, “red rainbow”, “blue rainbow”, “white rainbow”, “all the rainbows”! (These colours are the actual colours of each chakra).
Now both can close your eyes, take 3 deep breaths and if any thoughts come in your attention, just let them go by saying “Kundalini, please take these thoughts away for me”. Enjoy this silence for a few minutes.
Now you can ask your child to say the following wishes out-loud:
“Mother, please help me love everybody”.
When you are ready open your eyes and finish the meditation by raising your Kundalinis and giving yourselves bandhans.
**The Subtle System – My body and me
In this session your child is going to discovery the magnificent of his subtle body. For that we are going to guide you through each component of the subtle system. First we recommend you read the following webpage called The Subtle System.
Here is an explanation of the subtle system for your child.
**My Tree of Truth
Inside your body is an invisible tree that we cannot see with our eyes but that we can feel. This tree is called the Magic System (subtle system) or you can also call it the Tree of Truth. Let’s explore the 3 components of our Magic System.
- Inside of us there are three channels of energy, the sun channel, the moon channel and the lotus channel. The moon channel is located along the left side of our body and controls our feelings. The sun channel is located along the right side of our body and controls our actions. The lotus channel is located along our spine it controls time.
- We also have seven flowers (or energy centers) starting from the bottom of our spine all the way to the top of our head. Each of these beautiful flowers has a special quality and super powers that you can feel when you meditate. These flowers have a particular way to communicate with you. They send messages to your hands because each finger has a relationship with them.
In the following chart you can see the names of each flower, its quality and relationship with your hands.
- At the bottom there is a very important place where the golden star (Kundalini) is sleeping. When we ask the golden star to wake up it goes to all the 7 flowers and opens them up and when it reaches the top of our head a beautiful lotus is opened up and we can feel it like a cool breeze with our hand if we check it.
**Parents and children build good habits
This session is especially for you and your child to enjoy the love that Sahaja Yoga brings to your life. Here is a spiritual routine that you can do anytime with your child.
Sahaj Technique
We highly recommend cleaning the chakras of your child each day by foot soaking . Read this link to get familiar with the technique: Chakra cleansing techniques.
Here are the items you need to get:
- A chair
- Towel
- A plastic bucket
- A jug
- Salt
How to do the foot soak
? You can do the foot soak treatment anytime of the day, especially if you feel your child is a little big down, tired or very active and restless. We also advise doing the foot soak before your child goes to bed.
? Fill the bucket with enough water to cover the ankles. You can try using lukewarm water if your child is a bit down or tired. If your child is very active and restless use cold water. However, the most important thing is that the temperature is comfortable.
? Fill the jug with water.
? Add two handfuls of salt to the bucket. The salt water used for soaking the feet is particularly good for cleansing the Swadhistana, Nabhi and Void chakras.
? Ask your child to sit in the chair, raise his Kundalini, give a bandhan, put his feet in the bucket and meditate. During the foot soak keep your eyes open so that your chakras have a complete cycle to clear out.
? To make this experience enjoyable you can sing this song. As you sing the song make clock-wise circles around your chakras. This helps them to clear out more quickly. Remember to start cleaning your flowers from the bottom to the top of your head.
Around and around
Around and around, the negativity is gone.
and around and around, the negativity is gone
and around and around, the negativity is gone.
My Mooladhara is clear.
Around and around, the negativity is gone (repeat 3 times)
My Swadhistana is clear.
Around and around, the negativity is gone (repeat 3 times)
My Nabhi and void
Around and around, the negativity is gone (repeat 3 times)
My Anahat
Around and around, the negativity is gone (repeat 3 times)
My Vishuddhi
Around and around, the negativity is gone (repeat 3 times)
My Agnya
Around and around, the negativity is gone (repeat 3 times)
My Sahasrara
and all the Chakras are clear.
? Then ask your child to be in silence for some time so the Golden Start or Kundalini will star raising and cleaning each flower.
? When you are ready to finish the foot soak, rinse your feet with the clean water in the jug and dry them with a towel.
? Finally, ask your child to raise his Kundalini and give a bandhan.
Please pour the water from the bucket into the toilet and rinse the bucket with fresh water. We also recommend using the bucket and the towel exclusively for foot soaking.
Experience the benefits of the bandhan
It is very auspicious that you protect your child and yourself by raising your Kundalinis and giving yourselves bandhans before leaving your home. Doing this will strengthen your vibrations and will attract positive energy to yourself when you are outside your home.
Enjoying time in nature
When you go for a walk try to expose your child to nature and be sure to explain the importance of Mother Earth for us. This time is also perfect to sit on the Mother Earth and meditate.
Sing short melodies and dance together
You are welcome to get music from our Sahaja music for children website. All of the songs on the site are designed to strengthen your child’s Kundalini and improve their meditation.
Here are two songs that you can sing when you sit to meditate with your child.
Open up your hands
Open up your hands and feel the cool…
Open up your hands and feel the cool vibrations.
Open up your hands and feel the love.
Our Mother’s love is there for all of us.
Open up your hands and feel the cool…
Open up your hands and feel the cool vibrations.
Open up your hands and feel the love.
Our Mother’s love is there for you
and you and you and you and you
And aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaall of us.
Mother Kundalini
Dear Mother Kundalini, Kundalini, please come up, please come up, please come up.
Mother Kundalini, Kundalini, please come up, and open up my Sahasrara.
Good night yogi child
Goodnight, little yogi child.
Another day with Mother, so sweet and mild.
Goodnight, little yogi, sleep
And rest now little raindrop in the ocean deep.
