Self Realization: Ultimate goal of human life

This is a poignant thought; one that merits deep contemplation on what is it that we, as an empowered human race, are yet to achieve. While one’s thoughts may stir many ideas: Space travel, advances in science, “more shoes” many women will scream, there is an inward looking thought process that this statement chooses to provoke.

In this day and age, when the developed world has given its denizens a high degree of comfort materially speaking, and the developing nations are fast on track aided by burgeoning economies, one often wonders if the creation and acquisition of wealth is the ultimate goal in order to get secure, joyful lifestyles. However, when we take a look around, we see that among the wealthy, the worldwide slant towards self-destruction is almost legend! Drugs are considered cool, people have many partners outside of marriage and in an ultimate expression of slavery to matter, you are known by the car you drive!

Hence, one wonders at the next step of evolution. What was is that helped human beings evolve from a unicellular organism like amoeba to their present complex state? In one word, it was the “Seeking”. At the amoeba state our seeking was confined to food, survival was the million dollar question. Now that we have most everything we need to live a comfortable life, we are seeking again. Some are looking for academic gratification, some look for social status, few want to improve the world around them, fewer yet want to evolve to a “Mahamanav” (super human) state.

Even Lao Tsu has said “He who knows others is wise. He who knows himself is enlightened”. To know the deepest meaning of one’s creation, of one’s purpose on earth is a sign of enlightened meditation. Such meditations are blissful, life altering experiences, which sadly have also been elusive to the layperson for thousands of years.

Imagine something brilliantly powerful within you, that only wants good things for you, and has the capability of solving all of your problems? All your anger, your guilt, your in confidence, your pettiness, your poverty, your dependence on drugs, alcohol, destructive relationships… Imagine a sweet and motherly energy that can heal your hurt being, restore your lost innocence and make you a “Mahamanav”! The scriptures say that this energy has existed in each human being since creation, and many enlightened Masters such as Jnanadeva, Socrates, and Confucious to name a few, have written extensively about its brilliance. However, the prevailing thought process among such people ensured that only one or two of their most capable students, only after decades of penances, were told the secret for becoming super human.

By “super human”, we don’t imply acquisition of wild physical strength, or psychic abilities, or to get riches, or have world domination. Becoming super human means leaving the things which are  harmful for one’s spiritual growth, identifying and incorporating the right values needed to live a balanced life and ultimately, uniting one’s spirit with the spirit of the cosmos.

Such a lofty ideal begins easily enough with the awakening of this motherly energy inside you called the “Kundalini”. It stops all unnecessary thoughts of the past and future bombarding your brain while keeping you aware, lucid of your environment at all times. It brings you “in the moment” and in this state of meditation, spiritual growth takes place. All of one’s destructive ideas melt away, and get replaced by contagious positivity. This activity has been called Self Realization across ancient cultures. The seeker feels positive, nimble and strong to handle the challenges that he day brings.

This translation of abstract “heavy” literature into practical knowledge has been made possible by the extensive research done by HH Shri Mataji Nirmala Devi into incorporating Sahaja Yoga. She has found out how to raise thousand’s of people’s Kundalinis en masse, and has done so thousands of times on all continents. Today, people from different age groups, genders, varying educational backgrounds are reaping the rewards of these healing meditations. Just like breathing, meditation is a natural activity that can be done by anyone and is just as necessary for evolution. Plus, just like breathing, it is free of charge, or should we say, “it’s priceless”!
